PROCESS INITIATED IN 1945 The Corporation du Berceau de Kamouraska Inc., in association with the Fabrique Saint-Louis-de-Kamouraska, intends to pursue the development of the first civil and religious center of Kamouraska. The project creation of a commemorative park will recall the history of the site located near the village of Kamouraska and will constitute another step in a process initiated in the early 40s. In 1958 an open-air chapel was built to commemorate over 1300 pionners buried on the site. The mandate of preparing the plan was giving to the firm Chantal Prud'Homme a landscape architect. Historian Paul Trépanier and professionnal sculptor Alain Dionne contributed with Chantal Prud'Homme. This historical rememberance site will permit visitors, students in genealogy and descendants of the first pionners to discover the names and resting place of a vast number of people. |
